Travelling from London on day one to Paris by Eurostar we will book into our first hotel of the trip namely The Starhotels Castille. Day 2 we will enjoy a guided tour of Paris, while the afternoon is free for us to explore the sights at our own pace. Why not take a trip up the iconic Eiffel Tower or visit the historic Louvre?

Day three we travel by high speed train across the Alps into Italy via Turin making our way to Milan. Here we will stay for two nights at the Starhotels Ritz. Day four we will embark on a guided tour of Italy’s capital city taking in historic sites by coach and on foot. The Duomo in Milan has to be seen to be appreciated and is the world’s largest gothic cathedral. Milan also is renowned for its fantastic shops and restaurants.

Day five we will travel to beautiful Venice by train where we will book into our hotel the Splendid Venice for three nights. Day six we will join a guided tour of Venice on foot taking in the city’s amazing sights that include

  • St Mark’s Square
  • St Mark’s Basilica
  • Doge’s Palace
  • The Rialto Bridge

In the afternoon we are free to peruse Venice at leisure either on foot or maybe by taking a trip on a gondola along the narrow canals of the city. The day concludes with a fabulous meal in a local restaurant. Day seven is another free day were guests can further explore the area. We may have exhausted Venice but there are nearby places such as the islands of Murano and Burano that are well worth visiting.

Murano is famous for glassware and its glassware museum houses fabulous pieces dating back to Roman times right through to modern day creations blown in the factory here. Visitors to Murano may also watch a glass blowing demonstration in the factory then purchase some of the items blown in the attached shop. Burano is famous for its lace production, while strolling the narrow streets of this picturesque island with its delightfully painted buildings is a must!

On Days eight and nine we take our long anticipated trip on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. This magical journey is the highlight of the tour where we will take in the magnificent scenery as it slips by from our luxury compartment on the train. Travelling through the Italian Dolomites and Austria with its breath-taking views we will enjoy afternoon tea.  Dress code for dinner is definitely smart with men expected to don a suit and ladies appropriate evening attire. The evening fun begins with a four course meal and drinks in the restaurant car.

While we enjoy dinner our compartment will be changed ready for sleep by dedicated staff. We can either slip back to our bedroom after dinner of enjoy a few drinks or nightcap while listening to a talented pianist play the on-board baby grand. Following breakfast in the morning we will depart this amazing iconic train to transfer stations in order to take the Paris Eurostar through to London taking our amazing memories with us.
